Frequently asked questions

What is PLU Maxing?
PLU Maxing is a free browser game where you play the fastest cashier in the store. A piece of produce pops up, you type the 4-letter code on its sticker, the register beeps and the next one appears. You get 60 seconds. Scan as many as you can.
Is PLU Maxing free?
Yes, completely. No account, no download, no payment. Open the page and press Start scanning.
Do I need to know real PLU codes?
No. The game uses its own 4-letter codes, and the full list sits right next to the game in a searchable legend. Peek at it as much as you want; the fun is in how fast you can find, remember and type them.
Why is it called PLU Maxing?
A PLU (Price Look-Up) code is the little number on produce stickers that cashiers type at the register. Maxing is internet slang for going all in on something. So: going all in on scanning produce.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser on phones, tablets and desktops. A round takes one minute, so it fits anywhere.
How do I get a higher score?
Keep your eyes on the item and your fingers on the keys. Learn the codes for the items that come up most, watch the results card for your items per minute and accuracy, and beat them next round.
PLU Maxing is a free game. Play it, share your score, play again.
